As I finish my last year as being your Speaker, and as a member of the Missouri House of Representatives, I realize how fortunate I have been to serve you and this great state. I am truly humbled by the support that you have given my family and me during my ten years in the House. That support has led many of you to ask, “What’s next for you, Jim?”
Well, we all come to a point in our life where we have to decide what path to take. For me, there are two paths that I could take. I could go back to the farm and take care of my ol’ jersey and mama cows and enjoy some peace and quiet. Or, I could go back to serving the people of this great state and continue the tradition of common sense approach to government.
Debbie, my wife of 26 years, always jokes around and says that I should get out of politics and get a “real job”. As you know, I have never been afraid of hard work. Hard work is a TRUE MISSOURI VALUE. That is why I have chosen to continue fighting for you in Jefferson City. Today, I am announcing my run for the new 20th Senatorial District that includes Christian, Greene, Webster and Douglas counties.
I will run on a record of which I am proud. We have better schools that are more equally funded than they were ten years ago. We have implemented patients’ bill of rights that protects people like you and me from medical bureaucracy. We have made sure that the women of our families have the adequate health care they deserve. We have lowered taxes by nearly 1 billion dollars. From lowering the sales tax on food, to cutting taxes on small businesses, to increasing exemptions for dependants, we have fought to make sure that everyone benefits from these cuts, not just an elite few. We enacted a crime bill that makes sure the most- violent offenders serve their time, and along with other anti-crime legislation, we have made Missouri’s streets safer. My record is clear. Over the last 10 years, I have worked hard to make a difference, but there is so much more to do.
I will need your help in delivering this message to the people of the 20th Senatorial District. Whether it is a monetary donation, calling your neighbors, putting a sign in your yard or helping me go door to door in the district, there is no job too small. I hope that I can count on your support during this campaign and for years to come.
Once again, let me thank you for your support. If there is anything I can do for you please do not hesitate to call me.
Most Sincerely,
Jim Kreider
