Nixa Resident Challenges Citizens, Newspaper To Study Statewide Issues
On Jan.6, 1999, I witnessed Representative Jim Kreider and the Missouri General Assembly sworn into office to begin their new legislative session. I have to say that witnessing this event really left me in amazement.
I was fortunate enough to see Jim nominated and reelected as Speaker Pro Tem of the House. I listened while representatives from all over the state, and from both parties, praised Jim for his fairness and hard work he puts forth into making Missouri a better place to live.
It made me realize how fortunate the 142nd district is in having Jim as our voice in Jefferson City. It also made me realize that people do not take time to contact their representatives or go up to Jefferson City and witness our government at work. Many people do not actually know what happens up there, but they are usually the first ones to complain about the process.
Also, when I looked at the Nixa News-Enterprise on Jan.6, there was no mention of the Assembly`s new session. The only thing I could find was a previously ran editorial about last November`s election.
I challenge everyone to become more familiar with our state government. The Nixa News-Enterprise must increase their coverage of what happens in our state government, while the people have to call or visit Representative Kreider. I know he wants to hear from each and every one of his constituents because it is his job to listen and represent us in Jefferson City.
